Attended a check up on Friday. Warm welcome and professional staff. Very happy with the way I was treated.

Lots of comments about a rude receptionist but I found her to be very helpful and polite. I rang today for an emergency appointment and she offered me a number of times as well as being knowledgeable. As somebody who is uneasy at visiting the dentist, the staff always make me feel at ease.

It seems we cant all be lying about the same issues. I went for my most recent checkup on 13 Dec 18, and was greeted with a sneer by the rudest receptionist I think I have ever met. It got better, when she decided then it would be a good idea to start insulting me. "Name?" "Payne", I said. "Is that really your name?" she snapped. "Yes it is, Matthew Payne, why?" "Oh I thought you said you were in pain..." I think she expected me to congratulate her on the quality of her joke, and looked very annoyed when I didnt. "Why would you think that, when you asked me what my name was and your screen shows you a Mr Payne has an appointment?". No answer. I had a childhood of pain name jokes, so there are few originals left. After the appointment, the dentist asked me to book a hygienist appt, as I hadn't had one for a couple of years (mainly because they called in sick and the practice cancelled them). I was then informed I wasn't allowed to as I had cancelled an appointment a year ago and hadn't paid for it. I checked my icloud diary, there was nothing there and in fact I was in Essex on business that week, so I wouldn't have double booked myself. I told her I hadnt cancelled any appointments. She then told me, well maybe you didn't turn up then. She didn't seem to know which. All she could tell me was computer said no. Now I know I didnt cancel an appt at short notice, and Im sure I never booked one in the first place, as it would still have had a cancelled entry in my diary had it been there to start with. I have never missed a check up or a hygienist appt. Other people seem to have these phantom cancellations shoved under their nose much later after the event. Why didnt they call me, write to me, ask me for payment in the last year? Its not in their interests either. We pay for these appointments, so they are only shooting themselves in the foot, and you can get a hygienists appt anywhere. I refused to pay, and the rude receptionist said she would consult management about whether I would be allowed to book one after all. I wonder how long that will take. I will update my review when I hear back. Management might also want to take heed of some of these reviews and employ some politer people.

I think as well as the large and extremely rude receptionist they have a massive problem with their software system, either that or they are so hard up they are trying to con people into paying for appts they never booked. Ive been refused a hygenist appt as apparently I failed to show up for one 14 months ago. Trouble is I am completely unaware of this supposed booking and noone from the practice has ever contacted me about it. I always book a hygenist appt back to back with my check up as well. Why arent they telling me I failed to turn up for that as well, or am I supposed to have turned up for my check up and then walked out? Why didnt they tell me when I went for my most recent appointment, why delay until now? Their admin and their attitude stinks.

Very similar to a previous review on here. Receptionist was extremely rude and unhelpful. I was booked an appointment which was meant for my girlfriend and not myself (receptionist fault) to see the hygienist which was not recommended to myself by my dentist. On the day of the appointment I was told they wanted to move the time, I was then told over the phone if I could not attend the appointment I would be charged! After visiting the practice the receptionist was very rude told me there was another appointment I had missed which they hadnt informed me about and I was completely unaware of. She then muttered under her breath weve removed you from our list anyway I couldnt believe it, no phone call no letter just a sarcastic comment when questioning with girlfriend.Me my girlfriend and son were all using the practice and as a result we will all be looking else where for a more professional service
